My Students

I have 26 amazing learners in my class and 4 others that sometimes join our class They are enthusiastic and eager to learn new things. We often discuss what their favorite subject is and we came to the conclusion that their favorite subject is whatever subject I am teaching. They have been challenged in many ways throughout their education.

Despite the many challenges my students face, they show perseverance, to move forward with their education and become successful adults.

We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free meals. My students face struggles, but they laugh along the way. They have questions, but find answers and solutions. They have lots to learn, but are eager. Together we will succeed.

My Project

The items I am requesting for my students will make their work in Computer Science much easier when they are using their Chromebook. My students use their Chromebook daily. This year I have been teaching them Computer Science (CS) fundamentals. They have learned basic coding and programming skills through a series of lessons and activities. My kids complete CS activities that are both unplugged (paper and pencil) on their Chromebook. They have come across some difficulties when coding on their Chromebook. Often times throughout a lesson on Minecraft Education, many of my kids get very frustrated because they find it difficult to move to move the cursor around with the touch pad on their Chromebook.

Donations made to this project, so that my kids can have a mouse and mouse pad, will make it much easier for them to learn Computer Science fundamentals and to use in all subject areas.

Creating a less frustrating experience while my kids are learning to code and program is essential to their success in Computer Science. I want them to be comfortable learning skills that will take them into the 21st Century. Through CS, students don't just learn coding and programming. They also learn skills that they will use as adults in their career. They learn to problem-solve, use critical thinking skills, use computational thinking, collaborate, communicate, and express what they know in other subjects through Computer Science. So, you see, this project isn't just to get my kids a mouse and mouse pad. This project is going to help prepare them for success in their future.
