My Students
I have a very fun and kind group of 7th graders this year. They are yearning for learning after months of remote education. These students are more technically saavy than my students of past, but are looking for lessons that are highly interactive, allow then to collaborate and are and fun. Workbooks will not do.
My 7th graders are thirsting for me to challenge their minds while allowing them to share their ideas with their peers.
I have a lot to teach them, but they are quickly picking up on the science content and bridging connections to experiences they have had. Some of my students are great readers and communicators, others struggle. All benefit when they can work together.
My Project
I have always run a very hands-on science class for students to interact with phenomena and discuss their observations with their peers, but with distance learning we have to do this in a new way.
In the 2020 classroom, there needs to be more lab stations and partnerships where some group members are at home.
To accomplish this, I need to purchase high quality digital lab materials, earphones for communication with remote students, and the chemicals needed for my students to perform their experiments individually. With these items, I will be able to increase the engagement of both the in-person classroom, as well as the remote learners who will be able to stream video with their partners.
