My Students

In our Humane Letters classes, our students engage in Socratic seminar on some of the great works of Western literature and philosophy so as to gain the ability to critically examine and analyze important ideas. They also develop important skills in holding civil discourse with others who have differing opinions and ideas. In all of this, we are attempting to cultivate the whole human, intellectually and morally.

I love to see how hard they work in their struggles to understand and then participate in loving and edifying discourse.

Having taught this particular cohort for the last three years, I have seen them mature into conscientious and caring human beings who have begun to take ethical responsibility for their own education and their own lives. Time and time again I see them make the hard decisions for themselves and their peers instead taking the easy path.

When I see my students at their best, helping each other grapple with what is good and true, I find myself filled with hope in a world that young men and women such as these can shape.

My Project

My students engage in a rigorous process of analyzing and discussing great works of literature and philosophy. Conversations are better when students are more comfortable. These chairs will serve to give the students a more pleasant classroom experience.

We work hard on our classroom environments, trying to make them aesthetically and physically inviting and comfortable.

From the artwork on the walls to the temperature and lighting, we craft our classrooms so as to be conducive to the intellectual work. Students should have more comfortable chairs that the hard plastic ones we have currently. Thank you so much for your support!
