Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of sharing another amazing year with these precious kids. I taught them in third grade and have the opportunity to teach them again in fifth grade as they transition to middle school.
We are a Title I school with 75% economically deprived students, yet 98% attendance daily.
We are the stability and security of these young people. I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to watch them grow into a lifetime-learner. I would love to include you in this opportunity!
My Project
The international bestseller that has touched millions of readers around the world. This modern classic will engage both avid and reluctant readers as students learn to analyze the boys' growing friendship, their family relationships, and the dangers they unknowingly face.
I plan to add rigor to my students' explorations of complex literature with this heart-wrenching story set in a German concentration camp.
The challenging cross-curricular lessons and interesting activities work in conjunction with the text to teach students text-based vocabulary and research-based literacy skills through close reading. Text-dependent questions challenge students to analyze and comprehend story elements in multiple ways.
