Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
No day is the same in my classroom. I have the privilege to work with 22 amazing little minds, full of energy. Every little thing we do is new to them, they do things with such joy. One of the greatest joys is observing their face when they realize they have written or read their first word.
I have 22 ELD kindergartners in my classroom.
I teach in a Title I school with 97% of students qualifying for the free or reduced-price lunch program in an urban neighborhood. My students are amazing thinkers with great potential! I created a DonorsChoose.org account because I know there are amazing people out there that share my vision of helping children in every possible way. The impact that DonorsChoose.org donors have is endless, it opens doors to new possibilities for every child.
My Project
One of the greatest joys of being a teacher in a kindergarten class is to know that you will be the first one to see that child's face when they have first read a word and first solved a math problem, or the time they first write a word. I would love to capture this moments with a camera.
There are several events that happen at our school such as Fall festivals, dances, and other holiday events and we need a camera to capture this moments. Having photos decorate the halls fills the school with a sense of ownership and students feel proud.
This project will not only help my class this year but for years to come.
When students accomplish something great, we want to capture that moment and decorate our halls with them. We want to build a community of a family, where people can see what great school culture we have. Student feel proud when it's them decorating the halls and not some posters of unknown students.
