A Modern Public Classroom

My Project

At my school, we are doing everything we can to disrupt the typical way of doing things. That means we have 1-to-1 Apple products for the students, giant Samsung TV's in every room, and PD's on flipping our classrooms using some cutting-edge techniques. Still, being in a public school classroom, there are only so many investments we can make.

With your help, I can bridge the technology gap to make sure students make the most of what they already have and go even further in their pursuit of excellence.

We use our classroom TV for most things-- slides, videos, screen sharing, and even study music. The problem is the built-in speakers are just awful. So often, a student's gorgeous video project made using the full suite of Apple tools falls flat during their presentation because the small TV speakers render their dialogue inaudible. I often play chill music throughout working periods to help kids focus on their work; this too is undercut by the lousy speakers. With the soundbar included in this project, students will be able to enjoy an immersive learning environment.

There IS a downside to the emphasis on iPad use at my school-- if a student has forgotten the charge it overnight, or even if they just used it effectively all day, it is useless by the time they get to me. This charging tower will eliminate this problem.

Lastly, this printer will allow me to create high-quality printouts of the digital products the students create-- from literary journals, illustrated essays, or just beautiful writing they worked on and would like to print out to save for posterity. This printer will allow me to turn my classroom into a one-stop print center.
