I would like to inspire every child to read and fall in love with all the adventures that are possible when they open their minds to books. I hope to create a classroom library that will do just this.
I am requesting a few novels that are this year's winners of the Texas BlueBonnet Award.
I have 22 amazing students that are full with curiosity and eagerness to learn.
I teach at a title one school where more than half of our population are low socioeconomic. All of my students are part of that percentage. But that does not stop my students.
My Project
I will set up book clubs for my students to join and read the books. The book clubs will help the students develop important language skills and encourage them to use academic language. It will provide them to make predictions, expanded their vocabulary, and participate in group discussions.
I believe that a classroom library is important because it provides students with easy access to books.
Also, recent studies on literacy confirm what educators have known for years: the more contact children have with books, the better readers they become.
