My Students

I teach a program that is comparable to an ALC (Alternative Learning program). At my school this program helps students who need assistance in credit recovery to graduate or those who need more love, or those whose behaviors impair them from being successful in a regular school setting. Even though these students come from broken families/family issues, learning disabilities, are behind in credits for graduation, and/or have multiple absences, they are still children who need to be cared for and need to be loved.

My students, ranging from the ages of 14-18 years, old are caring, respectful and wonderful students even though they come from low-income, high poverty families.

My students come from areas where they don’t even have running water or electricity. Due to this, this is the reason why my school was chosen to receive federal funding for transportation and meals so my students are able to come to school and eat meals for free as they cannot afford it.

My Project

These math workbooks and math visual aids will be used in my classroom to help my students, especially my ELL and SPED students, as they practice their math skills.

My students have been learning virtually for about a year now, and next school year, I want my students to be better at their math skills.

In order to do that I will need my students to have daily practice on their basic math skills. So that is where the workbooks come in as I can differentiate learning for my students. I will also be using the math posters/visuals as aids for them to refresh their memory as they have really great vocabulary and small notes for my students to visually see.
