A Math Story (Told Through the Work of Student's Hands)

My Students

What makes my students special? This is the question that is asked of me in setting up this project. Well for a simple answer I have to say... EVERYTHING! There is nothing less than spectacular about my students. Everything about them is special, and this is something that every great teacher will understand. We are from a small town community where resources are scarce or hard to come by, yet even in the face of this challenge my students still look at the positives in their everyday learning.

Many times my students will volunteer their own materials or resources so other students may have access to technology or resources they otherwise wouldn't have.

The attitudes these students bring to school everyday is but one of the many wonders and joys I get from working with these kids. It is because of them I love what I do and enjoy getting up early out of bed and making the commute to the school. They are my family away from my own home.

My Project

Our classroom has the need for individual dry erase boards and markers. This would allow for students to each have their own dry erase board and can work problems out together in groups and individually. This would also allow students to show their work in a different yet fun way versus traditional pencil and paper.

Having these dry erase boards and markers will engage student learning in fun creative ways that will keep students wanting to learn the process and standards presented.

Student's needs and classrooms have changed and evolved over time, at the same time the methods of funding these changes and evolution's has seem to shrink in size. Classrooms are finding themselves more and more often depending on funds coming from more nontraditional methods. For this reason I thank you for taking your time to read this, whether you have decided to make a contribution or not. Thank you so much.
