I service the gifted and talented students. I service grade levels third, fourth and fifth. My students are small adults. They are curious, outspoken, sociable, easy-going, well behaved, considerate, and most important, responsible. My students have a special charm that makes everyone like them. Every time they present, their personality and characteristics kick in. They have so many special qualities. They are kind, loyal, creative, thoughtful, hard-working, and capable. These students would blossom with more technology and other resources that are needed in the classroom. With open arms, we accept any type of donation to have more performing arts opportunities in the classroom.
My Project
I teach all grade levels at an elementary campus. I have creative individuals that struggle accepting themselves at times. With the computer, heat press machine, and heat transfer vinyl material, I can give my students the ability to create their own shirts for their Gifted and Talented night which is a day that highlights and celebrates their accomplishments throughout the year. All of my students look forward to the gifted and talented class. This class is like no other. Our class provides the students with some time to themselves. The students get to design projects, act, sing and work on their communication skills. This year the students will be writing a math and science musical performance for their parents and community. The students are so excited to shine and take risks in front of an audience. The scripts and songs will allow them to combine their creative ideas and abilities to problem solve, trust themselves, and give them social awareness. My students have so many talents and I like for them to have the opportunity to explore themselves through art, music and theater. This helps them for the future and reflect on their interest as an elementary student. The play will feature characters that teach their audience about the solar system and integrate math. They will involve the audience in a journey to outer space musical adventure. The computer, heat press and materials would allow the students and I to create shirts and props for our special day. Students will be given an opportunity to research and study how to create shirts and props for that special day. The possibilities are endless.
