This project is about ensuring all my students have equal access to tools. For sewing class that means having a plus sized mannequin to go with our regular sized one. Students often used the mannequin to see how their project is progressing. Is it fitting right or laying right this allows them to make adjustments before they finish the project.
The advance sewing students use the mannequins to practice their draping techniques.
Unfortunately our regular mannequin only goes up to a size 14 which is smaller than some of our students. They also are making outfits for other people and the limited sizing often limits what they can make depending on the size of the person. Often times sewing is a way for students to customize cloths to fit their unique body type and size. This mannequin helps with this goal.
Additionally we really could use a new base for our existing mannequin.
