This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year I joined an incredible school with a new team of teachers focused on doing all they can for a diverse group of hard-working children. The school supplied us with so much. We are quickly setting up seven brand new classrooms to inspire a brand new fifth grade. Each class has a SMART Board, one non-magnetic whiteboard and shared computers, but the school does not have an endless supply to get us everything we want. The one thing I could use is a simple magnetic whiteboard. I have several manipulatives I can't use because I do not have a magnetic whiteboard. My students can discover new concepts and work with these manipulatives to gain an understanding of their new learning. I need to give my students every chance to understand this new world of education they are part of now. Education is the key to improving their future.

Our school is in a neighborhood with a diverse group of students with many refugee children.

They struggle to grasp new concepts without visuals and examples to help them learn. Please help my classroom be a place where every child has a chance to reach for the stars

My Project

I can use my new magnetic whiteboard to create interactive lessons with magnetic manipulatives. I have several lesson helpers that I can't use because they are magnetic.

My students need all the help they can get with examples they can move and interact with.

I have letters, numbers, number lines, fraction bars, and so much more that come to life with a magnetic whiteboard.

The use of a magnetic whiteboard is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. A whiteboard is a tool for guided practice. The whiteboard allows me to provide an easy place for them to discover and reinforce concepts.
