This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Rug rats are good. Rug rats are great. Rugs are essential in a pre-kindergarten classroom, and that is why I am writing this proposal. We are in need of a new rug and a bean bag to make a cozy reading area in our preschool classroom.

My students are all four-years-old.

They are silly, clever, curious, energetic, imaginative, creative, loyal, and kind. I have been teaching pre-k for many years and have loved every minute of it. I wake up in the morning and after getting my own children off to school, I happily drive to my little home away home in the city. Our school is located in a struggling, economically disadvantaged neighborhood in New York. The children are loving and their parents are supportive and respectful. A new carpet and bean bag would make a huge difference in our classroom and would be used for many years to come. The children would spend quality time on this carpet and bean bag.

My Project

I am responsible for educating 18 little preschool students. I am working hard to educate the children as well as provide them with a clean, engaging classroom. I am need of a carpet and bean bag. The carpet and bean bag is necessary to make the area a cozy one. The children will be able to read and work on puzzles in this area of the classroom. I have a classroom of eighteen energetic, busy four-year-old students. Each day we rest for approximately forty minutes. I want to be able to lay their mats down on clean carpets. At the moment, half the class sleep on the old carpet that we already have. The other half of the children have to put their mats down on the bare floor. We would be happy if all of the children were able to lay their mats on a carpet.

A magic carpet ride will have social benefits and provide comfort.

Right now is the time to not sweep socialization skills under the carpets of TV, video and texting. My goal is for the children to be able to play, rest and read on this carpet. The children would have a new comfortable carpet to play, sleep and learn on. The bean bag will be fun for the children to take turn sitting on. At our school we do not want to pull the rug out from under our pre-k treasures. Please consider helping us.
