A Magic Carpet Ride!

My students need a carpet as a gathering space with room for everyone to see without crowding.

My Students

First graders are enthusiastic learners and want to be a part of it all! My students are all so eager to gather on the carpet with me for daily lessons that they get squished, crowded, and trampled on their way to the floor.

I have an amazing group of "firsties" this year!

These kids are fun, outgoing, and really love school and learning. I actually had a student cry on a Friday afternoon because he was going to miss coming to school all weekend! The positive attitude of the staff at North Ridge Elementary makes it a great place for learning! Unfortunately, most of the classrooms are older, so teachers have to put a lot of effort and money into brightening up their spaces (you can see from my profile photo, taken as I was working during teacher workdays, that I've put color everywhere to make my room inviting!) This rug would go a long way in making our classroom an inviting place for my students!

My Project

This bright, colorful classroom rug will make our gathering spot a welcoming space for everyone! A rug with a well defined spot for each child will make our transitions to the carpet smoother when everyone knows that they will have a place waiting for them. Additionally, first graders are still working on self control and personal space. The colorful spots will give students a visual reminder of spacial boundaries, minimizing distractions and maximizing time on task!

The colors, letters, and shapes on this rug make it great for extra activities as well.

Not only will it make our classroom inviting and help keep students on task during carpet time, but it will double as a place for literacy and math review games. The students want to thank you so much for contributing to our cause!
