I am a first-grade teacher working in a high-needs school. We provide free breakfast and free lunch for all students in our building.
Despite the obstacles surrounding many of my students, they all come to school enthusiastic and eager to learn each day.
The excitement and smiles on their faces when they are learning and discovering inside our classroom is priceless. These incredible 6-year-olds deserve everything I can do for them at school to help them reach their full potential!
We spend a great part of our day practicing our listening/speaking skills and conflict resolution. My school uses the Love and Logic approach, which makes our students feel they are part of the decisions and learning in the classroom.
My Project
A first-grade classroom rug is so much more than just a place to sit. It is a comfortable, inviting place for meetings, listening to stories, sharing ideas, and learning about each other and our world. It's a place to read, write, and play. It is a place where everyone has a spot and feels included. It truly is a magical place!
A classroom rug is an essential gathering spot in a kindergarten classroom.
This colorful rug is not only comfortable and inviting but it also has 30 large circles that will allow each child their very own space to sit and learn. This rug will be used many times throughout each day. Along with whole group gatherings, it will also be used as part of our flexible seating options for centers and work time.
