A Love of Reading...starts With the Youngest of Readers!
Help me give my students amazing new readers for their first experiences with books. Help me fill our library with new, high quality and engaging books that will have them coming back to the library hungry for more!
We are reading superstars! Our proud school population is incredibly diverse. Our students are also economically diverse with roughly 75% on free and reduced lunch. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. We are a bilingual school as well. Our students LOVE coming to the library to check out new and exciting books! Often times students will ask me if they can check out extra books to take home especially over weekends or holidays. Several of my students come to the library every day to get new books! This is amazing!
My Project
If my project is funded, I will be able to provide our school library with amazing new easy readers for our younger students who are just starting to read. Having access to high quality, relevant, new, exciting themed books will help our youngest readers grow to be lifelong readers. Students will be able to check out these new books during their class time as well as during open book checkout times in the mornings and afternoons! They will continue to enjoy reading them at home too! Students use the five-finger rule to determine if a book is just right for them. They will practice this skill using these new amazing books!
