My Students
Every morning my students begin the day by repeating, “You believe in me, you trust me, I am important, I am cared for, I am listened to, I will succeed.” This little routine shows my expectations for my students; as well as, what they should expect from me, as their teacher. It is my hope, that in every learning experience that each student encounters, that they would feel and encompass those six statements. I want my students to have a safe environment where learning is fun!
My Project
First grade is the foundation for building a love for reading. During this year, students really start to blend sounds together, learn sight words, and begin to fluently read stories.
We need a CD player and headphones which will create a reading center that will be great for all types of readers!
Beginning readers could benefit by following along with read alouds to learn new words. Transitional readers may benefit from learning new sight words while listening and following along. Students who are at or above grade level may benefit from listening to a non fiction reader that is a higher reading level that could build their vocabulary. Everyone can benefit by listening to a story, no matter what their reading ability may be.
