My Project
I am requesting the following books and a Scholastic magazine subscription to help further my students' literacy skills in 6th-grade English Language Arts. Throughout these novel studies, my goal for this project is to provide my students with quality reading opportunities that can broaden their view of the world, and help them to become lifelong readers, as well as develop a love for reading along the way. My sixth-grade students are incredibly special to me. We spend more time together than we each do with our families throughout the week. My students are my extended family and each of my kids uniquely means so much to me. Through our class read-alouds, we develop a communal experience, allowing us to relate to each other and build relationships that go far beyond the walls of a classroom. In turn, this shared literary knowledge also helps to meet students' social and emotional needs.
