This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students come from all walks of life. We are fortunate to have several students come from various cultures and countries throughout the world. Often, our students come without any formal English Language. We are often teaching students who have never had any formal education.
The children of our school are so curious to learn about their new country.
They are not only expected to learn the English Language, but they are also expected to learn the content. It is so important for our children to be able to participate in both, with extra support from their teacher.
My Project
Coronavirus has changed the world. It has changed the way I and many others teach. We are more aware of other countries and the struggles with their own economies, healthcare, and the welfare of other people. Students in my class have limited access to the knowledge of what is happening and how it will change their futures.
It's time my students had access to the world.
With your help, students will be provided with a magazine subscription in which they will have access to articles that will broaden their knowledge of other parts of our country and the world. Students will use magazines to learn and share their knowledge. Moreover, students will utilize the magazine to learn key skills such as text structures and text features.
