My Project
My students are diverse, driven, and dynamic. They show up with curiosity, resilience, and a strong sense of justice. What makes them truly special is their eagerness to engage with real-world issues and their ability to bring thoughtful, personal perspectives to our discussions. They deserve literature that reflects their lives and challenges them to grow.
I'm requesting class copies of Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds to anchor a unit on cultural wealth, oppression, equity, and identity.
This powerful novel-in-verse explores themes like grief, violence, and choice in a way that is both accessible and deeply moving. It will help my students reflect on their own identities, understand systemic injustice, and recognize the strength within their communities.
