My Project

I teach English at an urban fine arts high school. My students are extremely creative and thrive on instruction that touches them artistically. They are inspired by music, art, and drama which I incorporate in my English lessons regularly.

Our technology is outdated, and we lack the budget to replace it.

Currently, I rely on a cranky PC that is inconsistent at best; my students need dependable, working technology.

On a daily basis in English class, we access websites that supplement the lesson. For example, when studying the Harlem Renaissance, we listen to jazz music, look at visual art, and listen to audio of the poets reading their work. Without a trustworthy computer in class, my students would miss out on rich supplementary materials. With a new computer, I will be able to readily access online materials that will enhance my teaching and increase my students' enthusiasm about literature and language.
