Cold tile makes for cold uncomfortable sitting. Our school is located in a small community in Western North Carolina. We serve a population that has been greatly affected by the closure of various manufacturing plants in our area. Therefore, the majority of our students live at or below poverty. I am trying to make my classroom a place of comfort and security. Life in the first grade requires a lot of time on the floor. My first grade students need a rug for our group/reading area. Providing a cozy area will help increase their ability to sit comfortably and therefore increase their attention span. This rug will also provide the students with an area to partner read and work in small groups. Not to mention the contribution it will make to the overall appearance of the room. Thank you for your willingness to help me help my students.
