A Little SPOT to Teach Social Emotional Learning

Help me give my students a room that is both inviting/comfy and a resource for staff and students.

My Project

I am a Social Worker at a Pre-K through 8th grade school. This year we have a dedicated group space (photo in profile). This space will be an environment for small groups of students to focus on SEL learning, newcomers to have lunch groups with peers, and individual check-ins for students struggling. My students are amazing and deserve the best. Sadly our group space does not reflect this....yet! A fresh coat of paint will go a long way but flexible seating and supplies are key.

The bean bags will give the kids seats outside of classroom chairs, a spot to relax and regroup.

The books are a series that focus on SEL. Our students...yes, even our 8th graders, love to be read too. These books can be checked out by staff in the building or utilized in the group space for read aloud or individual quiet time by the kids.
