My Project

These book sets by Diane Abler are an incredible tool for teaching students about their feelings and emotions in a kid-friendly way. The little plushes are cute tools for students to connect with and practice their social emotional strategies. According to the products, "The Little Spot of Feelings Box Set helps teachers explain feelings of empathy, frustration, calm, belonging, worry, boredom and flexible thinking through the fun feelings detective! Soon your students will exhibit great maturity in identifying and navigating feelings. This box set is a dream tool in developing essential social and emotional skills through an understanding of feelings. Emotions are complex and difficult to explain – even for grown-ups! This box set is educators' perfect helping hand in explaining basic emotions. The Little Spot of Emotion Box Set teaches about happiness, sadness, anger, anxiety, love, confidence, peacefulness and a mix of it all through a little scribble! This box set makes teaching emotions easy for you and learning about emotions fun for children!" As the school counselor, these are the emotions and feelings I work with every day. Having multiple box sets about feelings, emotions, friendship, and emotional regulation would allow me to share these resources with other teachers in my school, including our two special education rooms and center-based behavioral support program. Our school is 33% multilingual learns and 55% free and reduced lunch. I work with so many students whose mental health has struggled since the pandemic. These resources would be essential tools that would be used every day from kindergarten to fifth grade.
