A Little More Elbow Room

My students need a new classroom carpet. we currently have 27 students in our room and our carpet is so small that we have to move some students to the floor so that we can fit.

My Students

My kindergarteners are eager learners who are mostly new English language learners. With students coming from all different corners of the world, they have a diverse set of needs. We are facing large hurdles in communicating with families and in dealing with high levels of poverty, but our students work extremely hard and make excellent progress.

At our school, we take part in Personalized Blended Learning which allows students greater access to small group instruction on the specific areas of need that they have.

We have access to the use of both computers and Kindle Fire Tablets to use personalized online programs during this time as well as independent, collaborative, and teacher-led centers.

My Project

A new carpet would help our students to gain back comfort, limit distractions, and give them a space of their own. The carpet serves as our meeting and greeting space, instructional meeting place and a group-work-space. Unfortunately, our current carpet is just too small for our large class. With 27 students, we currently have to add spaces on the floor in order to make enough room for everyone. In addition, our students are constantly asking for more space or to move their carpet spot to the edge, as to get a little more space.

We’d love to give them more space and to help them increase their ability to concentrate on their learning.
