I need funding to attend the International Literacy Association Conference so that I may learn from expert leaders in the field of literacy.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Prayer's classroom raised $716

My Students
I am a National Board Certified Teacher who works at a Title I elementary school.
Many of my students come from military families and their experiences are often brought into the classroom.
More than 50 percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-priced lunch. My classroom is one that is diverse in learning styles, cultures, and interests. It is the varied backgrounds of my students that evokes wonderful classroom discussions and allows my students to learn from their peers' perspectives respectfully.
My Project
As a literacy teacher attending the International Literacy Association will allow me to dive deep into best practices for reading and writing instruction. I will learn from the top experts and educators in the field. I am really excited about attending the round table session that will discuss "The Do's and Don'ts of Writing Instruction." This particular session will explore effective writing practices tailored to genre, style, and context. The conference also provides intensive interactive full-day courses that I would like to participate in.
This conference will allow me to gain knowledge to create a culture of literacy that I will share with my colleagues so that their students can benefit.
The ability to read, write, and communicate connects people to one another. I want to help students in my community to literate and this conference will equip me with the tools I need.
