Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic and curious about everything. All of our students live close-by and walk to school each day. A good deal of my students have parents who are immigrants and/or don't speak English. My students need as much support in school as possible in order to help them to reach their potential.
The students in my class are excited to learn new things and love using technology to challenge themselves.
I hope to be able to foster this love of learning and encourage them to keep pushing themselves to reach their goals.
My Project
We are beginning to use the reader’s workshop model in our classroom, which we hope will benefit the students tremendously. The only obstacle we have at the moment is the fact that we don’t have enough books at the appropriate levels for my students. In order for the workshop model to work, students need to be reading independently on a daily basis. Not only should they be reading books that are appropriate for their reading levels, but they should also have access to books that interest them.
I would love to give my students every opportunity to grow as readers and to do so we need a diverse classroom library.
