My students may be little, but their dreams are big! My kindergarten students are 5 and 6 years old from inner-city Philadelphia. They are energetic, creative, and inquisitive. They love listening to stories and creating stories of their own. They are very eager to learn! Their enthusiasm for learning is inspiring and they never cease to amaze me. I am honored to be the teacher of such a wonderful group of children.
My Project
Having the ability to supply my students with a diverse listening library will enhance their learning experience. A wide variety of books on cd will allow me to match students to books that support their individual reading needs. I would be able to match students that need help with phonemic awareness to books that contain rhyming words. I would be able to address fluency needs by matching students to on level books that model smooth reading.
Having a comprehensive listening library would allow me to differentiate my reading instruction and engage my students with quality children's literature.
My students would be so excited to have the opportunity to utilize a listening center that has a wide variety of books and cds.
