This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we prepare for the upcoming academic year, I am excited to get started on a project centered on teaching compassion.

I am committed to nurturing not only academic excellence but also empathy, kindness, and compassion in my students.

I have developed a project that integrates compassion education into my curriculum, and we we cannot wait to get started.

To bring this vision to life, I am in need of specific supplies that will support the implementation of our project. These include markers, crayons, headphones, pencils, and pencil pouches, which will be used for various activities, creative projects, and collaborative learning experiences.

Your support will play a crucial role in helping me create a more compassionate and empathetic learning environment for my students. Students will read the book "A Little SPOT of Giving: A Story About Sharing and Generosity" to learn about the importance of helping those who are in need. After learning about the the importance of helping others, students will create tote bags with essential supplies included. A personal hand written card with a warming message will also be included in each tote.

My compassion-centered project focuses on the following key components:

*Seeing the World Through the Eyes of Another Person: Through a variety of discussions, and storytelling sessions, I will provide students with opportunities to develop empathy and understanding by learning about the experiences, challenges, and perspectives of others.

*Working Toward Alleviating Suffering in Others: Building on their newfound empathy, students will engage in service-learning projects and initiatives aimed at addressing social issues and alleviating suffering in our community and beyond.

*Measuring Success in Students’ Understanding of Compassion: To measure the success of our compassion-centered project, I will utilize a variety of methods such as student reflections, peer evaluations, and pre- and post-project assessments.
