My Students
Have you ever read something that makes you stop and think, Wow! Or have you ever read something that makes you realize something about the world in which we leave? Well, that's what "Clone Codes" will do for my students.
I teach remedial reading classes to struggling 9th graders at an urban school, in a low socioeconomic community.
My students identify themselves as "non-readers", but I always tell them there's a book out there for each and everyone of them - and I think "Clone Codes" is definitely THE book for them!
My Project
With this book, my students are going to examine the role of the society in individuals lives. This society does not value the differences of people, and actually is trying to rid the world of a certain type of people - "clones". My class is going to conduct research to link this to the world in which they live - past and present. We will present PowerPoint Presentations where students will become "experts" of material they have researched and link it to the world and the text.
With your help, my students can learn a lot about the world in which they live and how society's views have continually changed over time, yet stayed basically the same.
With this book, they can learn that history DOESN'T have to repeat itself: that each individual can be recognized for the unique traits they bring to the table! Thank you!
