My middle school students need a lectern for our upcoming public speaking lesson.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the drama teacher for a middle school in MA. These students have never had drama as a class before this year! I teach 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
My School is a high-need community. The principal hired me to make magic and give these students something to be proud of. I want to be able to give them a well-rounded view of theatre and public speaking before they go to high school. Many of these students also strive to go to the local performing arts high school.
As part of our public speaking unit, the students will be writing acceptance speeches. They will choose an award that they strive to win in their future life. I encourage them to shoot for the stars and win Emmy Awards, Pulitzer Prizes, and Grammy Awards among others.
When we perform the acceptance speeches, it would be most helpful to have a lectern for students to accept their awards from. I want them to feel like they really have something to look forward to in life, and give them some very much needed confidence to shine!
Your help will ensure that my students will have a place to accept their award from, and maybe give them the courage to speak in front of the class and plant the seed of expectation of what may come in their future if they assert themselves and dream big.
