Welcome to the land of the brilliant bees! Our students will pollinate seeds of greatness! They'll read with comprehension and fluency, explore the writing process, practice social studies skills, science, and math!!! It takes a village to educate a child. Together we can accomplish anything! Our goal is to make our students career and college ready. We also want them to become well-rounded citizens. We will achieve this through caring and compassionate teaching. Our students can accomplish their goals and dreams!
"According to all the laws of aerodynamics, a bumblebee should not be able to fly.
Its wingspan is too small for the size of its body. It can't get enough lift. But here's the key: Nobody told the bumblebee, so it flies anyway. It just did what was natural and started flapping its wings and took off into the air." -Mary Kay Ash
Sometimes in life we have to soar beyond our expectations...and we will!
Greetings! The materials I am requesting for our students are to help make them feel like they are in a comfortable, secure, environment. Unfortunately, a majority of our students live in poverty. I don't know exactly what they go through every day, but I do know that I've taught students who were homeless, students who were hungry, students whose parents are no longer in the home (so they move from place to place), and multiple other challenges.
I'm a teacher who believes in teaching the whole child.
It is hard to have a student focus who is concerned where they are sleeping that night, wondering whose house they will stay at for the night, or wondering where their next meal will come from. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot control everything that happens outside of the classroom, but I can control what goes on between these four walls. I desire to have a classroom and reading area that transcends. No matter what my students are going through, I desire to have a place where they can escape from whatever is going on in their lives so their sole focus is learning. For me, my escape from life's problems came through books and reading about other places. It was nice to escape and use my imagination to visualize other places around the world and the universe. I would love for my students to be able to "step" into a book and experience more things life has to offer.
Donations to this project will help students have a safe, comfortable reading environment, that is their own. My students will become better readers. We will use the literacy carpet for whole and small group instruction. The reading chairs will be used in the reading center. We truly need your support. Thank you!
