Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our Title I STEAM and Social Justice magnet emphasizes the respect of self and others. Our pedagogy includes discipline and high expectations, as well as activism and compassion. Our African-American students share the school with Latino and Asian kids. This mix offers unlimited opportunities to learn tolerance and teamwork while discovering new perspectives.
Students are not only trained to solve problems but also to focus how their solutions affect the environment and all members of society, here and abroad.
However, our school and our families can't afford the additional resources we need to support independent learning and significantly improve student achievement. Thank you for helping our kids become successful, responsible, and productive citizens!
My Project
I want to thank you in advance for offering my fourth grade students a large, new rug where they could gather to collaborate. Sometimes we would use it when I organize working lunches for struggling children. Most kids would also sit there when I call them to follow a lesson or a demonstration on our white board. A clean, new rug would definitely be more appealing and engaging than my old torn one I had for years. A large one would enable students to gather in front of me without being too close to each other!
