Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a high poverty school where often parents have to work two or three jobs to help make ends meet. My classroom is filled with 25 third graders who are English Language Learners and some of them have special needs ranging from developmental delay to autism.

While every student has a different learning style, the necessity of putting enough emphasis on one or another mode of learning is heightened when a student has special needs.

Many schools recognize this and incorporate computers in the classroom for both individually intended use and communal use. Our school is no exception to this. However, funds and materials in the school are limited and while the school does have laptops that are to be used with projectors to show videos, slide shows and other modes of educational media to classrooms as a whole, there simply are not enough to be used in every classroom. My students form one classroom limited in this way. We have a projector, but no laptop.

My Project

My job as a teacher is to make sure every student can benefit from the best education possible, and the benefits of a laptop for presentations and instruction for the whole class are too numerous to list. Please, help my students and myself to keep up with the benefits that are already being given to others in even the same school. With a laptop, I can appeal to the various educational strengths that many of my special needs students can greatly benefit from during classroom instruction. Students with difficulty learning English as a second language benefit significantly from visuals and many educational videos on the Internet. Other special needs students are auditory learners who will benefit from the rhythm and rhyme provided by a good deal of musical clips on the internet. Students as a whole will benefit from the inclusion of digital jumpstarters before every lesson in most content area if not all!

Your donations will make learning fun and exciting.

Instruction will be brought to the twenty-first century! Learning will be greatly aided by a varied and flexible method of instruction, and computers are an essential part of such an aim in today's classrooms. Please help me to supply such an invaluable tool to my present and future classrooms. Your generosity will truly touch many lives forever!!! On behalf of my students and I, thank you in advance.
