My Project

Biology happens. It happens inside you, inside the classroom and in the bright outdoors. My students have enjoyed learning about the processes of life I have shown them in the classroom. Through demos and videos, they have witnessed the miracle of life and of the dance it requires. However, as much as they have enjoyed classroom instruction, they have loved and thrived on the instruction I have been able to impart in the outdoors. The students seem more alert, receptive, and happy while they enjoy natural light and the relaxing view of trees and soothing sounds of nature. I have used the possibility of outdoor instruction as incentives for discipline and achievement but have not been able to fully reward the efforts of my students because instruction outside is very limited by the lack of technology (blended instruction makes technology a necessity).

I believe that the use of a learning screen outdoors will allow Biology students to enjoy the mental and emotional benefits of a natural environment while having ready access to the subject they are studying.

The laser projector is the perfect solution for a outdoor (brighter) environment and an accompanying screen is necessary to complete the vision of a blended learning/outdoor classroom.

As a future endeavor I would like to perfect the use of microscopes in the blended learning/outdoor classroom and believe it would complete the present biology curriculum for my students.
