Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 18 pre kindergartners who are very energetic. My 4-5 year olds are very curious and one of the most creative classes I have had. For some of my children, this is their first time in a school building. It is also the first time they are socializing with children their own age due to the pandemic. They are so excited to learn new things every day!

My children love to play outdoors and when they can't, they love to explore books, creative play and build tall structures whether it be from blocks or other building toys.

Each day these little ones come to school ready to meet their friends and give a welcome hug to whoever enters our room.

My Project

We try to make all our Centers exciting but everyone wants to make their teacher a cup of tea or a piece of strawberry cake. All my children love to play in our kitchen area, but there is one problem, my children have outgrown it. You see, we have a kitchen set but it is smaller than my children are. Although my children do enjoy playing in it, they would be more comfortable in a kitchen that is just their size.

I want my children to feel comfortable and enjoy coming into our building and think of it not only as a place to learn but a place to get to know their friends as well.

Through this play kitchen we will see the growth in their language skills and social skills as well. They will enjoy the area much more if it were the right size for them.
