A Kitchen for Kindergarten!

My students need a wooden kitchen play set and food to use during centers to explore and enhance their dramatic play and imagination.

My Students

Kindergarten is so much fun! My students learn in many different ways using all of our senses and multiple intelligences. I use a wide range of techniques to help all my students succeed no matter what their level. My students attend a Title One school. Most of my students come from families from a low socioeconomic status, with over 70% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Brooklyn. Our school is a caring community of successful learners, which can be seen through collaborative student project based learning in and out of the classroom. Kindergarteners in my class love to work with hands-on materials and have many different opportunities to practice a skill before it is mastered.

My Project

By donating to this project you will help my students learn basic life skills through dramatic play. They will be able to use their imagination as well as social skills to play with one another and discover new skills. Dramatic play allows for both verbal and non-verbal students to engage in shared ideas and play without barriers.

In the kitchen center, my students will have a chance to use their own kid inspired ideas to create, play, and communicate with others about preparing healthy, nutrient- dense meals to help fuel their brain and bodies.

They will learn how to share ideas and materials. It is important for my kindergarten students to learn to play creatively and cooperatively which will help to improve problem solving and self- regulation skills. The center will incorporate health and nutrition skills. Students will be able to read or write recipes, "cook" and measure something delicious with friends. The kitchen will help my amazing students develop healthy nutrition and social- emotional skills they will need for the rest of their lives.
