This year will be my first year of teaching. As a first year teacher in South Dakota, I am coming into this wonderful world of education with limited resources and a tight budget. My goal is to start a classroom library for my students to use and love every single day.
My kindergartners are great kiddos from all walks of life.
Our school is made up of many different ethnicities and cultures, which makes for a very interesting and diverse environment. We are a Title I school, meaning that many of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches based on their socioeconomic status. With many students having limited access to reading materials at home, I want to make sure they have a variety of books to read in my room. These leveled books will help them develop their reading skills and grow as readers.
My Project
This leveled library will be used by all of my students. Students will be able to have books in their individual book boxes at they can pull out and read at any time. They will be able to develop strategies for reading that allow them to read these books independently. These books will be put to use every day in my classroom. Learning to read is such a huge part of kindergarten and these books will play a vital role in that process.
As a first year teacher, I have very limited resources and a very tight budget.
It is so important to me to provide my students will everything they need in order to be successful. I strongly believe that these books will support them as readers and allow them to move above and beyond where we expect them to be reading in kindergarten. Every classroom needs a book library and this book set would be a wonderful start to mine. These books will be used and loved by children every day.
