My students are eager learners, they love to play, and they learn best when engaging with all of the learning that gets done in kindergarten in a hands-on, active way.
Our school serves almost 400 students, from kindergarten through fourth grade.
Each year we plan to add a new grade and grow with our students to 5th grade. Our students come to school eager to learn, smiling as they walk through the door each day. With over 95% receiving free/reduced school lunch, my students live in a high-needs urban community where school resources are stretched thin. Our families and our school work together to provide our students with the support, care, and rigor to set them on a positive path in their education.
My Project
Four and five year olds enter kindergarten with an inherent curiosity, love of learning and love of play. They learn best when their classroom and materials are designed and set up to make the special kind of learning we do fun and accessible to them.
Academic choice is a cornerstone of our days, and having access to quality materials to help my students' imaginations come to life will help them make connections in their learning, develop social skills, and create joy.
By providing my students with materials like clipboards, crayons, durable floor pillows, playdough, kinetic sand, and dollhouse people that represent them, you are helping to create a joyful learning environment. This project will help ensure that learners of all types will learn and grow in an accessible, welcoming classroom that meets their developmental needs.
