Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students from the Bronx are part of the Bilingual Program in our school. This program gives children the opportunity to develop their listening, speaking, writing, and reading literacies by incorporating Spanish and English in the classroom. Instruction is strategically planned so that students benefit from their multilingualism and accomplish their learning goals.
My cheerful kindergartners enter the classroom ready to learn, explore, create, and discover.
My Project
These books will be used to help our students become better readers. As bilingual students, they have been exposed to Spanish as well as English texts. However, our classroom library is lacking English books that are on the students' levels.
We need these books to help our students practice the skills we are teaching during guided reading and reading comprehension blocks.
These books will allow students to explore on their own and experience reading in English!
These resources will really help our students become more familiar with the English language and enhance their literacy skills as they try to decode words and identify sight words. I am hopeful that including these new books in the classroom library will also encourage students to read more!
