This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Over the summer, I aim to learn guitar to create and coach a modern band fusing rock and jazz at our school. We currently do not offer rock or jazz, but I would like to provide students the opportunity in an after-school ensemble setting. We can get this rock/ jazz modern band program off the ground and start in early September with the right equipment and supplies.

Starting a jazz/rock program will enrich our music program, school, and community.

I aim to have our rock/ jazz band debut in our 2024 winter concert. It will be a challenge to overcome, however, I believe in the student interest to provide in return a space to create jazz together.
