My Students
I am a Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten teacher at a school which is one of the first public schools in the nation to offer free Montessori education in an underserved, high needs community.
As a public Montessori school, we strive to create a community where social/emotional health, knowledge, and peace are a priority.
My students are thoughtful, creative, and curious children who need love, a healthy community, and proper learning resources to realize their full potential.

My Project
My students come into Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten not knowing the difference between letters and numbers. I have worked in other schools where the students can at least name a letter even if it doesn’t match the one being pointed to. The students in my current class have the potential to identify letters and their sounds. The letter puzzles, word building materials, Alphabet Letter Locks, write and wipe boards, etc are interesting materials that will engage the students. The students will be drawn to the materials which will encourage them to choose the work daily. They will identify the letters and sounds through daily practice.
