My Project
As we enter a new school year, the SRHS English I team would like to offer our students the opportunity to engage with more contemporary texts. Through the novel "The Hunger Games," our goal is to dive deeper into the story while building upon students' reading and writing skills.
Our first-year students need more modern texts that will allow them opportunities to think critically.
"The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins offers students the chance to become immersed in a story centered on a dystopian society, with connections that can be made to classic texts such as "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. This novel is taught across the country from middle school through 12th grade, as it provides teachers and students with a wealth of skills to be built upon.
Currently, my campus has only around 30 copies of the novel, which is enough for only one teacher to have a class set. This project, if fully funded, will provide class sets for more teachers to utilize. I appreciate your consideration!
