My students need a printer, ink cartridges, and paper so we can learn to annotate rich, complex texts as well as print our own writing projects.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I've spent 11 years as a New York City Teaching Fellow teaching and learning in a beautiful, diverse learning community in Brooklyn.
My students come from all over the world, with a variety of strengths and weaknesses, wants and needs.
We work hard, we stick together, and above all, we read and write like crazy. Teaching 11, 12, and 13 year olds to passionately love reading and to write about literature with skill and grace is a challenge under any circumstances. It takes patience, time, and commitment. But we've got all that. What do we need? Paper!
My Project
Our classroom is overflowing with great books for kids to read but we desperately need a printer, ink, and copy paper so that kids can have access to high interest, complex non-fiction article for research, writing, and debate. Kids need access to poetry, student friendly writing checklists, rubrics, and a host of other resources that must be printed and copied. We don't have student access to computers or tablets in our classroom, so digital versions of texts aren't a viable option at this point.
Please help us ensure that students can enjoy and analyze shorter texts such as poetry and non-fiction articles in addition to books.
Help us create and distribute mentor texts, checklists, and samples of outstanding student work to use to better our own writing.
