A Home Without Books?

My students need 67 books in their homes to promote literacy outside of the classroom as well!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every child deserves to have books at home! However out of the 22 of Kindergrtners that will start school with me this fall, less than half of them will have a single children's book in their home.

I want my students to be able to share the learning that goes on in the classroom with their families.

Their growing love of literature and reading is contagious and will inspire those around them! Hailing from mostly inner-city projects, my students do not have the opportunity to go to a bookstore and bring home their own hardback book to read to a little sibling or cousin.

My Project

With your support, we can give each of my 22 students and their families three high quality, high interest, new, clean books to keep at home to read over and over again. Once they have books in their homes, I pledge to ensure that the families start having family bedtime stories and other family literacy traditions that will catapult their children into reading!

Your donation will help support literacy in the home and bridge the school-home connection for these students at the start of their educational careers.

We need to show them that they deserve to have books at home and that we believe in their potential!
