Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are a diverse group from a variety of cultural, social and socioeconomic backgrounds. At our school, diversity is celebrated and embraced. Our students are supportive of one another and want to experience the world through all aspects.

They are amazing learners and work hard to experience the success that they achieve.

As a school, we want to help our students continue this success through new learning experiences to make them excited to come to school and find out more.

My Project

While my students are away of different body systems, all of which we discuss in depth throughout the year, they often have difficulty understanding how parts of these systems work. By having the heart model as a hands-on experience for students, we can discuss how the heart works and how blood is carried throughout the body.

Students love having hands-on items to manipulate; it drastically increases engagement in the learning process.

These models will allow students to engage in a learning experience related to themselves and how the human body works. The heart is a vital organ, one that is responsible for the movement of oxygen and nutrients through out the body. Understanding the heart will allow students to develop an understanding of many other aspects of the human body.
