My students are excited about Environmental Education. When doing Earth Day projects this week, they decided that we should start composting the waste from our cafeteria. What a great way for them to participate in conserving our resources.
Our composting bins will be the first step in developing an Outdoor Learning Center for our school.
My students and I are passionate about learning about how we can help improve the environment. We have a Tower Garden, are participating in an Algae education program, piloting an Air Pollution Unit, and have Tomatosphere seeds planted. We have an ant farm, hatched butterflies, and dissected owl pellets this year.
The composting bins will give us the opportunity to save the waste from our cafeteria and build the soil for our planters. Once we get this project going, we will turn our hand to planting a butterfly garden.
