This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach Language Arts and Social Studies to at-risk middle school sixth graders. I am a very hands-on teacher. I try to get my students to learn through creativity.
I provide almost all of my classroom supplies, and my supplies are diminishing quickly due to larger student numbers and frequent student use.
If my classroom had a class set of twistable crayons, we could be expressive with less time for classroom clean up and more time for creativity. If we had more scissors and rulers, there would be less impatience due to waiting to share, and more time, for example, creating country brochures and brown bag book reports.
If you help provide my classroom with these supplies, you will help me release my students' learning potential. I like to do a lot of hands on activities to make learning fun, and you would enable me to be successful with this.
