My Students
My students live in a rural community of about 2,000 residents. They may not realize it yet, but they are growing and learning in a very supportive and tight-knit community that cares about each of them.
In my classroom, I have 18 kindergartners of varying social, emotional, and academic needs.
They are creative, clever, and spontaneous! They have so much excitement for school and learning; it makes my job so enjoyable! My students are unique individuals with unlimited potential. It is my job to ignite their excitement for learning so they can reach their full potential!
My Project
Providing opportunities for young learners to participate in sensory play and sensory learning is essential to their development. The sensory tubs in our classroom are filled with things such as wheat, rice, pinto beans, sand, and plastic beads. There are also a variety of literacy, math, and science games in the bins. Students have fun digging through the sensory materials to play the games.
Children learn best when they engage their senses.
While the sensory bins have been great we would love to have a sensory table. The bins often get dropped and the materials scatter on the floor creating a big mess. A sensory table would eliminate this problem.
In effort to make learning fun and hands-on, I would like to continue to add games to the sensory tubs. I have a variety of environment and life science games that I will incorporate in the sensory tubs. I would also add the life cycle manipulatives I am requesting with this project to have students practice sequencing the stages of life cycles for different animals. Thank you for helping my students have the best learning experience possible!
