Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In addition to being an elective teacher for middle and high school students, I am also a new middle school soccer coach. We are a public charter school that serves primarily low-income students and families. We focus on preparing ALL of our students to be college ready upon their graduation from high school. We provide opportunities to students they might not otherwise have. As an organization, we challenge our student-athletes to strive to be the best they can be both on and off the field.
Our students are great learners both inside the classroom and out. Unfortunately, the opportunities are not always evident. As a growing athletics program, we have limited resources for our teams. In soccer you really only need a ball to play but there is so much more that adds to the credibility of the sport and our team. We have the potential to be a great soccer program!
Through my students' participation in extracurricular activities like soccer, they will not only to learn a new sport but grow emotionally, socially and intellectually as is in line with our mission. The soccer equipment is instrumental in developing our soccer program for our students.
